Will anyone beat the Pats?

After seeing the Patriots dismantle the Dallas Cowboys yesterday, the question that pops up is will the Patriots make a run at immortality, and challenge the 1972 Miami Dolphins’ unprecedented and undefeated season? With the ease that the Patriots have knocked off six straight opponents, you’d think it would at least have to be considered at this point.

The track record of recent great teams in the NFL leads you to think that surely someone will come up and bit the Patriots, but I guess that’s the beauty of sports, we can talk it up now, just in case it happens. The next team in line for the Pats? The Miami Dolphins, Sunday afternoon, in Miami. Now, how would that be for Dolphins fans, to not only beat the Patriots for what would be their first win after an 0-6 start, but to save the legacy of the ‘72 team? I would think it is unlikely to happen, but then again, stranger things have happened. Look for the next big test of the Patriots to be November 4th, when they travel to Indianapolis and face the Colts. At that point, it’s possible both teams could still be undefeated, and the media will have a ton of fun hyping up this game as the latest “Game of the Century.” Well, that’s three weeks away, so let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. However, the Patriots are clearly heads and shoulders above the rest of the league right now, so as long as Tom Brady stays healthy, you’d have to think the Patriots will have a long successful season, and have visions of yet another Super Bowl title…
